June is an important month for Woodberry Down. Over the next few weeks, residents across the estate have the chance to elect the people who will represent them on the Woodberry Down Community Organisation — the body that speaks for every resident in the regeneration of our estate.
There are two rounds of elections. First, a series of by-elections taking place in each area of the estate between 3 and 11 June. Then, on 18 June, the Annual General Meeting, at which the WDCO Executive — the Chair, Treasurer, Vice-Chairs and other officers — will be elected for the coming year.
Why does this matter?
WDCO sits at the table with Hackney Council, Notting Hill Genesis and Berkeley Homes. It is the residents’ voice in decisions about planning, housing management, service charges, the design of new phases, and everything else that affects daily life on Woodberry Down. The people elected in June will attend monthly meetings with the partners, raise residents’ concerns, and help shape the next stage of the regeneration.
That only works if the board reflects the full range of people who live here — social tenants and leaseholders, long-established residents and newer arrivals, people from every part of the estate.
The by-elections
Several seats on the WDCO board are currently vacant. ITLA — the Independent Tenant and Leaseholder Adviser, who acts as returning officer — has arranged a separate meeting for each area so that residents can vote, or put themselves forward, close to home.
You do not need to be an existing board member to stand. Any resident of the relevant area can nominate themselves or another resident (with their permission). If you cannot attend your meeting in person, contact Roda Hassan at ITLA to request a nomination form in advance.

The Annual General Meeting
The AGM takes place on Thursday 18 June 2026 at 7:15pm at the Redmond Community Centre, Kayani Avenue, N4. If you cannot attend in person, a Zoom link is available on request.
At the AGM, the full WDCO board elects the Executive Committee — the Chair, Treasurer, Vice-Treasurer, Vice Chair for Communications, and four Vice-Chairs. The Executive meets twice a month to carry forward WDCO’s work between board meetings and to represent residents in meetings with the partners.
Board members can also elect representatives to the partnership working groups — including the District Heat Network Working Group, the Estate Management Board, the Service Charge Working Group, and several others. These are the forums where much of the detailed work of the regeneration is scrutinised. Details of each group are available in the WDCO briefing note circulated to board members.
If you wish to stand for the Executive, nominations must be submitted to Roda Hassan by 12pm on Tuesday 9 June. The nomination form is available from the WDCO office or by emailing Roda directly. Working group elections take place on the day, and board members can put themselves forward at the meeting.
How to get involved
Whether you come to vote, to stand, or simply to find out more about what WDCO does, you are welcome. These elections are the mechanism by which residents keep WDCO accountable and representative — and the more residents who take part, the stronger WDCO’s voice with its partners.
